Model development
First generation Tiguan: debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007, based on the Volkswagen PQ35 platform, with a wheelbase of 2604mm, positioned as a compact SUV. In August 2009, it entered China in the form of imported cars, and began to be localized by SAIC Volkswagen in November of the same year.
The second generation of Tiguan: officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, based on the Volkswagen MQB platform, the wheelbase increased by 77mm compared to the old model, and the R-line model was introduced.
The third generation of Tiguan: debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in October 2023, with a new design, the body lines are smoother and softer, the front end has flat LED headlights and glass covered horizontal bars, the waist line and the front and rear fwings are more streamlined, and the new horizontal LED light strip also adds highlights to the rear.
